Looking forward to February! This month we will spend a lot of time improving our writing.  We will work to build stronger, more meaningful sentences in both our personal narrative and expository essays.  Students will study a lot of mentor writing to see what real authors do and how we can apply that in our writing.

Of course, we will continue to work on reading as well.  Students will spend time working to really notice why authors create the characters they do.  We will notice the character actions and feelings and how they grow and change throughout the story.  I sent home a paper last week with some questions for you to use with your student that will work with any story.  I am trying to really remind the students that it isn't the thickness of the book that matters, it's the thinking you do with it that does!

Thank you for all of your continued support at home.
